Shelter

The Pearl, 21 Pearl Street, Pittsfield, 413-320-6550 – Year-round shelter run by Service Net for adults provides housing, meals, showers, toiletries, and clothing for individuals experiencing homelessness. 24 beds for men and 16 beds for women. Onsite shelter staff often connect guests to case management and other support offered through the Resource Center.

  • Warming Center at The Pearl, 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. – warm up, snacks and warm drink.

Our Friends’ House in Pittsfield, 413-585-1300 – Family shelter. Service Net provides each family with a room and meals for up to six months. Case management services are designed to help families find and secure permanent housing, and to develop the means to support themselves in a home of their own.

Elizabeth Freeman Center, 24/7 hotline: (866) 401-2425 – Domestic violence, safety planning, shelter, counseling and advocacy, and more. 

Louison House, 149 Church Street, North Adams, (413) 663-6323 – Provides a transitional housing shelter that can house families and individuals for up to two years, permanent supportive housing that houses chronically homeless families and individuals in leased apartments subsidized by Louison House, and offers services to further support residents to secure housing and engage in skills development.

Housing

Hearthway, 1 Fenn Street (3rd floor), Pittsfield, 413-499-1630 (walk-ins: Tuesday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) – Get help finding income-based apartments or work with the Housing Consumer Education Center to connect to resources to pay your rent, work with your utility company, and get support services to help keep your housing. Also provides first-time homebuyer education.

  • Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) – Can help with rent or other housing costs when facing eviction, foreclosure, loss of utilities, and other housing emergencies. Check eligibility

UpSide413, 413-443-7138 – Promotes household, housing, and community stability through a continuum of interrelated service options include housing, legal, and consumer counseling services; intensive case management and other tenancy preservation and housing stability resources; community-based and court-connected dispute resolution options; and more.

  • Tenancy Preservation Project – Serves as a neutral party to the tenant and lanlord; works with individuals and families with disabilities that are facing eviction as a result of behaviors related to a disability.

Soldier On – Veterans who move into a Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community (4 in Western Massachusetts) become homeowners within a community of veterans, surrounded by the services they need and with access to support from other veterans. Apply to a Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community
