Who We Are
Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Habitat welcomes people from all walks of life to partner in serving and creating a better community for everyone who lives here. Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity is an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global nonprofit housing organization working in nearly 2,100 communities across the United States and in 70 countries around the world. Habitat for Humanity affiliates are local Habitat for Humanity organizations that act in partnership with and on behalf of Habitat for Humanity International. Each Habitat affiliate coordinates and pays for all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area. Founded in 1992, Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity has been providing homeownership opportunities for people that are working hard to provide decent housing for their families for more than 25 years. We serve Central and Southern Berkshire County.
What We Do
Habitat works with families to help them acquire the access, skills, and financial education necessary for them to be successful homeowners. By partnering with us, families seize the opportunity and possibility that decent, affordable housing represents.
Volunteer Opportunities
We are seeking volunteers for regular weekly shifts at our store in Pittsfield. Morning and afternoon shifts are available Wednesday-Saturday in a variety of positions – customer service, sales assistant, office assistant, warehouse clerk, and special projects assistant.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation for households making $57,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English-language speakers. IRS certified volunteers can help you prepare your federal and state taxes with fast, electronic filing.
Become a VITA volunteer and help families keep more of what they earn.
Register for a virtual info session | Tuesday, November 16, at 5:30pm or Monday, November 29, at 2:30pm.
