Pittsfield Promise Partners in Action

Pittsfield Promise partners Greylock Federal Credit Union and the City of Pittsfield, with the help of direct care worker Manny Slaughter, held a library orientation session for 30 local children at the Berkshire Athenaeum.  Kids learned about the wealth of library resources and were helped to get their own library cards.  Pictured here is Greylock board chair Sheila LaBarbera with some of the young people who attended.

Pittsfield Promise is a city-wide coalition -- made up of 31 agencies, cultural organizations, businesses and community leaders and educators -- whose goal is to increase third-grade reading proficiency from its current 60% level to 90% by 2020.
