Pittsfield Prevention Partnership and Berkshire Eagle monthly honor youth with the The SAY (Supporting and Acknowledging Youth) it Proud award. The winner was ten-year-old Ashlee Langlois from Conte Community School who's motto to others who might be afraid to try new things is “it’s not as scary as you think.” -

Berkshire United Way announces community investment plans - $1.36 million in 43 grants
Berkshire United Way today announced it is investing $1.36 million in 43 grant awards for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014. The primary focus is to improve outcomes in early childhood education and youth development. These educational outcomes, combined with employment and financial stability, are critical building blocks for ensuring a high quality of life and help secure the future of the entire community. -

Berkshire United Way to help fund Pittsfield Public Schools Summer Learning Programs
Pittsfield’s three Title 1 elementary schools will be humming with activity this summer as students expand their literacy and math skills, practice music, create art, and engage in healthy physical activity. The Layer Cake of Language -- Building Early Literacy Skills
Early educators (pre-K and out-of-school time) were invited to attend a FREE training hosted by Berkshire United Way at the Berkshire Athenaeum -- Pittsfield's Public Library and covered the first layer of literacy skills -- phonological knowledge.
